Dear Fellow American Citizens in the Republic of Korea,

As the Korean Government continues its comprehensive and aggressive fight against COVID-19,  which we strongly support, I would like to reassure you that the U.S. Embassy remains open and operational to meet our highest priority, which is the welfare and safety of U.S. citizens in this country.

The U.S. Embassy team in Seoul is actively engaged with Republic of Korea health authorities, such as the Korea Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (KCDC) and with hospitals and health facilities around the country.  We are also coordinating closely with U.S. Forces Korea and consult daily with a range of U.S. agencies both here and in the United States to ensure we are current with latest developments and guidance with respect to the fight against the virus.

Please remember to check our Embassy website (https://kr.usembassy.gov/022420-covid-19-information/) as well as the CDC’s website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) for the most up-to-date information on COVID-19, and do continue to monitor Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for notifications and messages like this one.  And one more ask – please share the word about the STEP program and the Embassy website to other Americans you know or might meet who are unaware of them.  Our consular team at the Embassy is working around the clock to keep U.S. travelers to the Republic of Korea informed of the risks related to COVID-19 and measures to take to reduce those risks, to assist Americans in need, and to combat the spread of this outbreak.

My team and I, including our Consulate in Busan, look forward to continuing to be of service to the large American community in the Republic of Korea.

    Sincerely,

    Harry Harris
United States Ambassador to the Republic of Korea
